It’s no shock that I’m a big fan of desserts. Lately, I’ve been trying to avoid them since clearly, they don’t particularly like me. Or maybe they like me too much, since they stick around on my thighs, ass and stomach. And so I’ve been trying to at least lessen the amount of desserts, sweets and snacks these days. Maybe if I have less, I’ll learn to actually enjoy it when the time comes.
This dessert, however, is a favorite. An affogato is an Italian dessert, typically made with espresso and gelato. Affogato literally means “drowned”. Classically, a shot of hot espresso is poured over some gelato. I, however, am not nearly as fancy. I took my favorite caramel cappuccino K-Cup and poured it over some vanilla frozen yogurt. Top it off with a little drizzle of chocolate and it is an excellent dessert. The hot cappuccino melts the yogurt, the chocolate gives it a nice mocha flavor and the entire thing combines into a creamy, milkshake-like dessert. The big bonus is that it takes less than five minutes start to finish.
- 4 scoops vanilla frozen yogurt
- 3 cups caramel cappuccino
- 2 tsp. chocolate syrup
- Take two large glasses and put 2 scoops of ice cream in each.
- Pour hot, freshly brewed cappuccino over top of the ice cream.
- Squeeze a teaspoon of chocolate syrup over top.
- Serve immediately.
