Fans of the Walking Dead, rejoice! Our favorite zombie comedy is returning to the Sunday night line-up! Although I don’t think it’s a comedy… Maybe more of a drama. If you are a fan of internet Memes, then you might think it is a comedy. Either way, do not proceed if you haven’t seen the season 4 half-season finale.
When we last left our favorite apocalypse-ians, they were fleeing the prison en masse. Judith is not looking so good, Rick’s face is kind of gross and Daryl has fled with Beth in what I am hoping becomes a romantic comedy spin-off. According to my sources, the first episode of this second half is going to focus around Rick and Carl so Daryl Dixon won’t be making an appearance until AT LEAST episode two. I still stand my original thoughts: If Daryl dies, we riot. My predictions? Tyrese will take Lizzie and Micah under his wing, teaching them how to destroy things with a hammer. They’ll find one of those comically large hammers along the way, the kind people use to test their strength at fairs. Maggie and Beth will probably go through some sort of post traumatic stress thing from seeing their father unceremoniously beheaded in front of them but then they’ll use that rage to form an angsty music group called Maggie and the Shiz. Rick and Carl will probably get bit then amputate each others limbs in something reminiscent of Monty Python. Either way, my traditional Sunday evening nightmares are about to return and I couldn’t be happier.
In honor of the return of the greatest show on television, I have made you zombie bites. Note: Don’t get bit. Even if you chop off your own leg after, the likelihood that you’ll actually survive for long is slim. But DO indulge and imbibe. Enjoy one of these babies. It’s essentially a pomegranate mojito. A bit of simple syrup, some lime and a healthy dose of pomegranate juice and pulp to give it an extra zombie-ish appearance. Rim the glass in red sugar for a great, eerie look. Enjoy. Drink them while watching Walking Dead. If you have enough of them, it might just turn into a comedy show.
- 2 ounces light rum
- 2 ounces pomegranate juice
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 6 to 8 mint leaves
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
- lemon-lime soda
- For rim: 2 Tbsp. sugar, 2 Tbsp. pomegranate juice
- At the bottom of a cocktail shaker, muddle sugar, leaves and limes. Do not crush completely, just muddle gently. Add in rum and pomegranate juice.
- Shake vigorously until well combined.
- Strain into two glasses. Top with lemon lime soda.
- To rim your glass, combine sugar and pomegranate juice until completely combined. Run the rim of your glass with water, then press it into the sugar until coated.
